WMR - U.S. Wheat Exports Remain Higher than Last Year

Export sales of U.S. wheat remain about 15% higher than one year ago, a trend that has been prevalent throughout much of the growing season. Sales to our top two customers, Mexico and the Philippines, continue to show double digit increases. Exports are relatively stable year on year to Japan and Taiwan, two customers consistently in the top five, but are down to Korea. We are also seeing higher sales to countries not typically in the top ten market set, including Colombia and Venezuela, and stronger than normal sales to Nigeria. The strength in sales is due to price competitiveness, a continued strong demand for high quality wheat, a recovery in HRW sales after two years of lower than average exports.
