After 26 years as president and CEO of North Dakota Mill, Vance Taylor is turning the page. His last day is July 3rd, and while he's genuinely looking forward to spending more time with his family and doing some traveling, he's the first to admit it won't be easy to walk away.
"I'm going to miss the people here at the mill and the connections with the state and local government, who have both given a lot of great support over the years," Taylor said.
Under his leadership, the Mill more than doubled its daily capacity from 2.75 million pounds to over 6 million pounds of product per day, with an expansion currently underway that will take that even higher. In total, the Mill adds value to 40 million bushels of spring wheat and durum on an annual basis, the largest single-site capacity mill in the country. Taylor oversaw multiple capital projects that modernized operations, added storage capacity, and dramatically improved how the Mill handles both truck and rail delivery. He also remained deeply connected to the broader wheat industry, lending his time and expertise to organizations like the Wheat Foods Council.
Those who worked alongside him say his impact went well beyond the numbers; he was an educator, an advocate, and a constant presence for anyone who walked through the Mill's gates. The NDWC congratulates Vance on his retirement and thanks him for his contributions to the state’s wheat industry.
