Strengthening the Home Front: A New Era for Domestic Promotion

While North Dakota wheat is a staple on the global stage, the Commission remains equally committed to growing demand right here at home. Strengthening our domestic market ensures a stable, diverse foundation for our producers. To amplify this mission, we are excited to highlight the evolving role of the Wheat Foods Council (WFC).

The WFC is currently undergoing a strategic shift to become the definitive Domestic Producer Voice. Historically focused on broad consumer outreach, WFC is narrowing its lens to more directly represent the men and women who grow the crop and promote wheat as a valuable ingredient. We recognize there is an important need to expand on domestic messaging. With WFC’s shift we want to ensure the story of wheat—its nutritional value, sustainability, and essential role in the American diet—is finally told through the perspective of the farm.

In the meantime, we are working to fill that gap by partnering with Kansas, South Dakota, and Montana on promoting and expanding EatWheat.org, a resource dedicated to sharing recipes, and the producer story.

This transition is already underway and will officially begin with the hiring of a new Executive Director to lead WFC’s revamped mission. We are incrediably hopeulf for the future of the WFC and the stronger domestic presence it will provide.

If you have any questions regarding these changes or our domestic promotion strategy, please reach out to Haley or Erica at the Commission office.
