NASS Variety Survey

Hitting your mailboxes soon is the annual wheat variety survey, and we strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to fill it out.
We know your time is valuable, so we appreciate you filling out the survey if you receive one. The data from this survey is used throughout the supply chain. Plant breeders track which varieties are gaining ground. Seed producers use it to plan. And buyers of North Dakota wheat — who count on our grain for its specific quality — use variety trends to understand what they're getting and make smarter purchasing decisions. It's one of those behind-the-scenes tools that quietly keeps our industry running well.
The survey is conducted by USDA/NASS at the direction of the NDWC, with support from the ND State Seed Department and NDSU Ag Experiment Station. Mailed surveys should hit mailboxes by the beginning of July. Producers can fill out the paper survey or utilize the online access code provided in the mail to complete the survey. You may also get a follow-up call from a NASS enumerator — that's just their way of making sure enough producers respond to keep the data solid.
Everything you share stays confidential, and the more producers who respond, the more accurate and useful the results. So, if that survey shows up, please don't set it aside. Thank you in advance for your time and participation in keeping North Dakota Wheat the golden standard!
