Similar to certified seed and crop protection, wheat growers invest checkoff funds in the North Dakota Wheat Commission with hopes of better returns. The checkoff isn't a cure-all, but it is one of the inputs into the supply and demand equation that you can control.
The North Dakota Wheat Commission has proven effective in opening overseas markets, developing new wheat varieties and advancing on production problems, reinforcing the consumption of grain-based foods, and influencing state and federal policies that affect wheat growers.
