Domestic Promotion
With about half of U.S. hard red spring wheat use and two-thirds of durum wheat use occurring in the United States, the domestic market is still the largest market for both of these specialty wheats.
The North Dakota Wheat Commission's domestic promotion program is about conveying positive messages on the healthfulness of bread, pasta and other wheat foods to American consumers. Motivating them to act on the information by enjoying and eating the recommended number of servings is the goal.
The Commission is a partner in the Wheat Foods Council to help achieve this goal. A limited budget prevents us from putting a positive image advertising campaign in front of consumers, but a public relations approach puts information in front of key conduits to consumers - media, health and nutrition leaders.
